How to help local businesses during the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak.

Many businesses are having to close, downsize, or lay off staff in reaction to the COVID-19 outbreak. If handled badly this could be devastating to the local economy.

Luckily we are part of a strong community here in Oregon City. Here are some steps members of the public can take to help local businesses.

Steps to helping local businesses in Oregon City:

Step 1 : Buy a gift card

Oregon City businesses may be completely closed and unable to make money. You can help by buying gift cards ready for when the store opens again.

Step 2 : Leave them a positive review if you've been there before

Local businesses rely on good reviews from Google, Yelp, Facebook and other websites for business. If you've used these businesses consider leaving them a positive online review so they get more customers when they open again.

Step 3 : Add and engage with them on social media

Local businesses will be using social media to communicate with the public. Follow their pages and see what they're doing during the outbreak.

Step 4 : Buy from their online store (if they have one)

If the business has an online store, consider buying from them instead of, say, Amazon.
